Workshops

World Music

Highlighting the treasures of world music through discussion and listening examples from Indian, Indonesian, African, and Central Asian musical traditions. Using world music as a window on the human experience and the human spirit. Good for teenagers to adults.

Opera Appreciation

Making this beautiful and exciting art form accessible to ages 8 to adult. With watching & listening examples, and participatory exercises for younger audiences, we explore the history and facets of this genre.

Improv

Improvisational theatre is wonderful for team building for any organization, as a creative activity for school-age kids, or as a skill developer for actors, aspiring actors, singers, or other performers.

Lecture-Recitals

In 2019, I first presented “A Poet’s Love: The Magic of the Song Cycle,” a lecture-demonstration-recital focusing on Robert Schumann’s classic song-cycle Dichterliebe, sharing fascinating background info on the composer, the poet, the time period, “what to listen for” in this great work, and the poetic aesthetics of the piece, before presenting the cycle in its entirety. Making the art song and opera repertoire available to audiences via informative lecture-demonstrations is a passion of mine.
